The president of two prominent west coast USA hotels is predicting a strong 2009 showing from the Australian market despite the global economic downturn.

“We’re really excited and we think it’s going to be a good year,” Handlery Hotels president, Jon Handlery, told SpiceNews. “2008 was a great year and we are anticipating 2009 to be as good.”

Handlery Hotels has two properties — one in San Francisco and another in San Diego — both popular destinations for Australians on the US west coast.

Handlery was in Australia last week for the annual Visit USA roadshow for media and travel agents held in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.
