Accor Hotels has introduced a new hotel to the Mercure network, the Grand Mercure Apartments Bargara, Bundaberg on Queensland’s Coral Coast.

Situated beachfront, the property offers 39 luxury apartments located only 200 metres from the seaside town centre along the newly developed Esplanade overlooking Bargara Beach.

“Grand Mercure is one of the fastest-growing 4½ to 5 star luxury hotel brands in Australia and boasts some of the country’s most distinctive hotels, and we are very excited to welcome Bargara Apartments and the city of Bundaberg to our network,” said Accor regional general manager, Neil Scanlan.

Bundaberg and Bargara are dynamic destinations, the gateway to more than eight National Parks and 92km of unspoilt coastline. It is also the most southern access point for the Great Barrier Reef, including nearby Lady Elliot and Lady Musgrave Islands, and Fitzroy Reef Lagoon.

Bundaberg itself boasts heritage buildings proudly mixed with modern architecture, plus famous local icons like the Bundaberg Rum Distillery. It is the perfect base for those who want to enjoy reef cruises and day trips, four wheel driving or simply relax and soak up the sights of the surrounding sugar cane country.

The Grand Mercure Bundaberg is the latest in a range of new Grand Mercure resort developments announced this year, including the Grand Mercure Forest Lodge in the Hepburn Spa region of Victoria, and the Grand Mercure Townsville, which will open later this month.
