Sydney Olympic Park a White Elephant No More

Like Darling Harbour before it, Sydney Olympic Park's 'white elephant' status is no more.

Like Darling Harbour before it, Sydney Olympic Park’s “white elephant” status is no more.

Heralding the change is the opening in September of Accor’s Pullman Sydney Olympic Park, the first 5-star hotel to be developed this century in Sydney.

A recent launch that was attended by travel and business tourism media showcased the significant amount of investment in commercial, sporting, education and hospitality development taking place in Sydney Olympic Park. More than $276 million has been spent across four Accor hotels, three commercial buildings, a 208-unit residential development, a specialist hospital, a new pub and a childcare centre.

The ultra-stylish 16-storey Pullman has 212 rooms and suites and three floors of executive accommodation and plugs a hole of corporate desirability much needed in the precinct. Targeting the conference and events sector, it offers a range of meeting facilities, with 340 square metres of conference space plus pre-function areas for up to 220 delegates and a boardroom.

The hotel has wireless broadband connectivity throughout with i-Pod docking stations in all rooms, free internet access in the executive lounge and web cameras in the business lounge — all supported by 24 hour IT solutions.

Beyond the Pullman, venue and event options include behind the scenes tours of Olympic venues, mini Olympics for team building in the Stadium, and corporate games in the Olympic Tennis Centre.
