Conference Monitor data found that Victoria was two conferences in front of New South Wales in the last quarter.
Australian hotels and conference venues hosted 269 professional association conferences during the September quarter, attracting more than 101,000 delegates.
The September quarter tends to be the second most popular period in which associations schedule their conferences, and the majority of these are hosted on the east coast. Overseas destinations accounted for a dozen professional association conferences according to the latest data in Conference Monitor.

Healthcare and medical conferences dominated the quarter with 81 individual conferences attracting 34,100 delegates in total. NSW (18) and Victoria (17) were the most popular states for healthcare conferences. Eight healthcare professional association conferences were hosted overseas.
Next year is shaping up to be a busy year for the conference sector and Conference Monitor is tracking conferences and meetings being planned by more than 1,000 organisations.
Conference Monitor general manager, Matt Baxter said that more than 150 of these conferences are yet to lock in a venue for next year.
“Many are yet to confirm a location for their 2016 major event but smart operators with access to Conference Monitor information would be already in discussions with the event organisers,” said Baxter.
On an aggregated basis from conferences covered in Conference Monitor, organisers will require venue space to accommodate 55,280 delegates in cities around Australia in 2016. This figure will increase as more conferences are tracked in Conference Monitor.
