Would you get married 12 feet underwater in a Bora Bora lagoon?

Spring is upon us and with it engagement season. For couples looking for something totally different, Tahiti Vacations is now offering an underwater wedding option.

The nuptials take place in a lagoon at an undersea chapel called Te-Ana-Ipo, aka ‘The Cave of Love’ in Tahitian, where a Polynesian chaplain meets and marries the couple.

Dressed in white wetsuits, the couple exchange traditional wedding vows, rings and sign the marriage certificate. To capture these moments, a videographer accompanies the couple throughout the ceremony.

Director of Tahiti Vacations Lola Carter said, “Now that you can legally marry in Tahiti and her islands, this is another unique product to add to our range (including some exclusive product not available elsewhere), whether it be to legally tie the knot or to renew your vows, what a novel idea. There is a process to go through to legally marry in Tahiti, however we are the experts and can guide you and your clients through.”
