Sir Richard Branson supports Tassie's Quamby Estate

[Tue 14/02/2012 12:43:20]

Sir Richard Branson has once more teamed up with Virgin Blue founder Brett Godfrey, this time on the recently purchased Quamby Estate in Tasmania.

Godfrey and Virgin Blue (now Virgin Australia) co-founder Rob Sherrard teamed up to buy Quamby in June 2011 and the pair own Noosa’s Makepeace Island in partnership with Branson.

Sir Richard BRanson has teamed up with Virgin Blue founder Brett Godfrey in a joint venture supporting Tasmania's Quamby Estate.

This time, the British entrepreneur is becoming the property’s number one membership holder for the golf course at the Estate.

“I am delighted to be teaming up again with Rob and Brett, this time in supporting their initiative to further develop tourism in Tasmania,” Branson said. “I look forward to visiting Quamby and enjoying a round or two with them at my next opportunity.”

Quamby has been undergoing a significant refurbishment since the purchase last year and the renovated rooms and country club are expected to be unveiled at a corporate golf day on Friday February 24.

“Rob and I have spent a great deal of our corporate careersbuilding or developing tourism assets that we’ve felt particularly passionate about,” Godfrey said. “Quamby has been a labor of love, has a wonderful history and is a special place that we hope will help raise the profile and quality of product available in the region.”

Quamby Estate was formerly part of Grant Hunt’s Anthology collection of properties.
