[Fri 27/01/2012 01:09:31]

BY JAMES WILKINSON

For the first time in eight years, flights to Hamilton Island will feature Business Class and the move to introduce the cabin by Virgin Australia is set to boost luxury traffic to the destination.

Virgin Australia's Boeing 737 Business Class

“We applaud Virgin Australia’s new Business Class offering to Hamilton Island,” said Hamilton Island’s CEO Glenn Bourke.

“The service complements our recent significant investment in luxury tourism and will be well received by our guests staying at qualia and the Hamilton Island Yacht Club Villas,” he said.

Virgin Australia operates Boeing 737 aircraft to Hamilton Island from Brisbane and Sydney and the new Business Class cabin features complimentary food, drinks, inflight entertainment and a 38” seat pitch.

“Our Business Class cabin with the new Boeing ‘Sky Interior’ sets Virgin Australia apart for in cabin style and comfort with luxurious leather seating with 38-inch seat pitch and gourmet Luke Mangan designed meals,” said Virgin Australia Group Executive Commercial Liz Savage.

Those on Business Class fares will also receive priority check-in and boarding, along with entry to the Virgin Australia lounge and complimentary limousine transfers within 60 kilometres from the airport at either ends of the journey.

Hayman Island, with its new Beach Villas, will also benefit from Virgin’s Business Class introduction and air fares for the cabin are currently selling for $759 each way.
