Hawaiian A330s to operate Sydney-Honolulu flights

[Tue 13/12/2011 01:50:09]

BY JAMES WILKINSON

Hawaiian Airlines has finally announced that brand new Airbus A330-200s will be deployed on the Honolulu-Sydney route from May 2012, offering more seats and on-demand, inflight entertainment for every passenger on the 294-seat aircraft.

The move comes as Hawaiian increases its Sydney services to daily from tomorrow (Dec 14) and the airline’s CEO Mark Dunkerley says the upgrade in aircraft means the carrier will offer an extra 11,000 seats per year on the sector –the equivalent of an extra 14 Boeing 767-300 flights (the jets currently operating the service) annually.

“This week we will be providing Australian travellers with more seats to book their flights to Hawaii by going daily with our Sydney-Honolulu service, and within a few months we’ll add more seat capacity and enhanced on-board amenities with our fleet of new A330 aircraft,” he says.

Hawaiian’s new on-demand entertainment system, which was introduced when the A330 joined the fleet, features an LCD touch-screen monitor and a large range of movies, television channels and games.

Recently, Hawaiian Airlines announced the launch of Sydney-Honolulu-New York flights from June 4, 2012.
