Epicure's Gingerbread Village launches to public

[Fri 02/12/2011 09:56:10]

The award-winning pastry chefs at Epicure’s Culinary Centre have produced an iconic gingerbread village that will be displayed at the City Gallery, Melbourne Town Hall from 1 to 24 December, 2011.

The gingerbread village will be on display at the Melbourne Town Hall until Christmas Eve.

Under the guidance of Chef Deniz Karaca, the village has been built entirely out of gingerbread and includes iconic Melbourne landmarks such as The Arts Centre, MCG and The Melbourne Town Hall as well as a Fairytale Castle and moving Wind and Water Mill.

Visitors will be able to find miniature chefs getting up to mischief, AFL players at the MCG, shopkeepers, animals as well as fruit and vegetables.

There’s even a train that runs all the way around the Village. With plenty of treats for the kids, the Gingerbread Village by Epicure is sure to add smiles to everyone’s festive season.

Officially launched by Lord Mayor Robert Doyle, the Gingerbread Village will be open to the public from 11am to 6pm every day.

Under the guidance of Chef Deniz Karaca, the village has been built entirely out of gingerbread and includes many iconic Melbourne landmarks such as The Arts Centre, MCG and The Melbourne Town Hall.

Entry to the Gingerbread Village is free. Epicure is also supporting the Starlight Wish Granting program, granting once-in-a-lifetime wishes for seriously ill children.

Gold coin donors will receive a cardboard gingerbread man that they can place on the Epicure Christmas tree.

Epicure’s aim is to have the Christmas tree full of gingerbread men by the 24th December.

Epicure’s pastry chefs will also be whipping up tasty creations that can be purchased at the exhibition including gingerbread men, love hearts, macarons and chocolate-coated nuts. Or be a chef for a day - pick up ‘make your own’ gingerbread house and gingerbread tree kits.
