BE Tasmania puts on a show for conference and incentive planners

[Tue 29/11/2011 04:22:44]

In a bid to showcase the island state’s offering, Business Events Tasmania recently hosted a group of conference and incentive professionals giving them a taste of what their clients could expect while in Hobart and its surrounds, including the Tasman Peninsula.

The famil group, hosted by Business Events Tasmania.

After touching down in Hobart, the group were whisked off on a scenic flight to Redbank’s Fish and Field  to try their hand at some outdoor pursuits on offer such as archery, fly fishing, aqua golf and clay target shooting that ideally cater for team building exercises.

The groups paid a visit to the sea cliffs of the Tasman Peninsula to Port Arthur and the UNESCO World Heritage Port Arthur Historic Site that provided a stunning backdrop for a twilight cruise. Dinner was followed by the group enjoying an exclusive Ghost Tour.

Delegates stayed overnight at Stewarts Bay Lodge, and visited the Tasmanian Devil Conservation Park the next day where they saw the antics of the much loved but endangered animal.

“The park provides the opportunity to learn more about Tasmanian devils as well as other natives such spotted quolls, wombats and kangaroos,” said John Hamilton, owner of the conservation park.

The next overnight stop was Hobart, which included a visit to the world renowned Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) at Moorilla Estate which includes a winery, a micro-brewery, fine-dining restaurant, architecturally designed pavilions with their own art collections and function rooms.

The Henry Jones Art Hotel, residing on Hobart’s waterfront in a row of 1820s warehouses and the original IXL Jam Factory, provided accommodation for the second night. The delegates enjoyed a guided tour of the artwork by upcoming Tasmanian artists and architecture whilst sipping a pre-dinner drink.

Wrest Point Hotel and Conference Centre was the venue for a ‘Master Chef’ crepe suzette cook off breakfast before the group had time exploring the famous Salamanca Markets.

Tasmanian food and wine experiences that complement business events and incentive groups were also a highlight of this visit. The delegates enjoyed a visit to Barilla Bay for oyster shucking, lunch at spectacular Meadowbank Estate winery and dinner at the sophisticated Smolt restaurant.

Business Events Tasmania is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to assisting client’s stage memorable, cost effective and successful business events in Tasmania delivered against a backdrop of wilderness, heritage, clean air and water, fine food and wine, local artists and innovators interspersed with quality conference and meetings venues.
