[Thu 27/10/2011 12:05:51]

InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto started the Spring Racing celebrations with an elaborate Spring Racing Champagne Hats & High Tea event to benefit Special Olympics recently.

The Alluvial restaurant beneath the atrium of the InterContinental was a sea of colour with garden pyramids, magnolia and conifers to created that spring look. 160 corporate guests enjoyed a decadent High Tea created by Executive Chef Nick Reade and his team.

About 160 corporate guests attended the decadent event.

The new high tea menu included savory mini bagels, buns and mini wraps; the obligatory fluffy scones with jam and cream and delicious mini desserts - the highlight of which was the mini berry wafer stacks.

Celebrities and Olympian swimmers were among the guests who enjoyed some fast moving Spring Fashion by some of Australia's leading designers Craig Braybrook, Godwin Charli, Aurelio Costarella, Toni Maticevski and more.

Guests got a look at both fashion and fascinators from some of Australia's leading designers.

Raising funds for Special Olympics with prizes such as polo lessons, InterContinental Fiji vacation, dancing lessons Dancing with the Stars Arsen Kishishian - almost $10,000 raised for Special Olympics Victoria in just 2 hours.

The event raised over $10,000 in just 2 hours for Special Olympics Victoria.

Having undergone a $60million refurbishment almost 2 years ago, new general manager Joerg Boeckeler is keen to step up the presence of InterContinental Melbourne from a well kept secret to one of a place to be. With its  transformed accommodation rooms, banquet space, bars and restaurant, its also currently working in partnership with Guy Grossi's Merchant and also Shannon Bennet's Vue de Monde - captivating a location ideal for both leisure and business traveller.
