Australia's largest sunrise breakfast held on Bondi Beach

[Tue 25/10/2011 10:27:30]

In an opportunity to celebrate its enviable outdoor lifestyle,  Sydney hosted 5000 Sydneysiders and visitors at a sunrise breakfast on Bondi Beach as part of the Crave Sydney International Food Festival on Sunday, 23 October 2011.

Sydney's iconic Bondi beach hosted a sunrise breakfast event for around 5000 people as a part of The Crave Sydney International Food Festival

New South Wales (NSW) Minister for Tourism and Major Events, George Souris said it was a spectacular scene at Breakfast on Bondi with Aboriginal didgeridoo players and the 56 piece Strathfield Symphony Orchestra performing at sunrise.

"Bondi Beach is one of Sydney's most popular tourist attractions with 544,000 international visitors and 816,000 domestic overnight visitors experiencing the beach in the year ending June 2011.

"Breakfast on Bondi celebrates Bondi's unique beach lifestyle with activities including sunrise yoga and Brazilian capoeira.

"Celebrity Australian chef Bill Granger who had made Sydney breakfast famous worldwide with his popular Bills cafés was a special guest," said Souris.

"We love outdoor events in Sydney and we also have a strong food culture, based on great regional NSW produce, wonderful restaurants and casual cafés," she said Joanna Savill, director of the Crave Sydney International Food Festival .

The event, put together by Fourth Wall Events, is one of five signature events on the Sydney and NSW Events Calendar developed by Destination NSW.

On throughout October each year, The Crave Sydney International Food Festival highlights Sydney as a global dining destination enhanced by regional NSW produce and wine.
