Award-winning Lindeman's Open Garden returns to Floriade 2011

[Thu 22/09/2011 10:26:30]

Lindeman’s has been blooming over the weekend with the return of the international award-winning Lindeman’s Open Garden to one of Australia’s favourite flower show, Floriade 2011, offering visitors a gardening and culinary oasis within this magnificent annual festival.

Attracting over half a million visitors each year, Floriade is one of Australia’s biggest spring celebrations with Lindeman's Open Garden being one of the highlights of the show

Held at Commonwealth Park in Canberra’s city centre until 16 October 2011, the Lindeman’s Open Garden is experiencing a burst of activity that has complemented this year’s Floriade theme, A Feast for the Senses, with garden cooking demonstrations, wine tastings and the perennially popular hanging basket tree.

The 18-metre Lindeman’s Cellar Door has been the place to watch the happenings of the month-long festival while relaxing and sampling the crisp and refreshing Lindeman’s Early Harvest range or the fruity and refreshing Lindeman’s Sweet Seasons range, both 25% lighter in alcohol.

With exhibits like the perinnially popular hanging basket tree, Lindeman’s Open Garden is offering Floriade visitors a unique lighter living experience with more than a million blooms as a backdrop

New to the Lindeman’s Open Garden is the addition of iPads for tech-savvy visitors, with the ability to peruse the Lindeman’s website and cellar door online, make purchases and register for Lindeman’s Harvest Club to receive all the latest in information on cooking, gardening, VIP offerings and most importantly, new wine releases.

Whilst relaxing in the serene setting, Lindeman’s ambassadors, celebrity chef Dominique Rizzo and renowned gardener Meredith Kirton, have been providing visitors with simple, seasonal and lighter-style recipes together with tips on how and what to grow during the months of spring, all matched to Lindeman’s beautiful 25% lighter in alcohol wines.

Adding colour to the opening of annual spring event is Ex-Miss Universe Australia, Rachael Finch

The garden cooking demonstrations are being held five times a day from 11am to 4pm each weekend (Sunday 18 September, Saturday 24 September, Sunday 25 September, Saturday 1 October, Sunday 2 October, Saturday 8 October, Sunday 9 October, Saturday 15 October and Sunday 16 October) including the public holidays, Monday 3 October and Monday 10 October.

Visitors will be able to get hands-on and explore the flavour theme of Floriade by creating their own ultimate hanging basket using flowers and herbs, which will then be showcased on the six-metre hanging basket tree for all to see.
