O2: Australia's first oxygen bar opens in Sydney

[Tue 06/09/2011 03:11:08]

Entrepreneurs Rob Azar and Alexi Fahad have recently opened Australia’s first ready-to-breathe oxygen bar, O2 at Darling Harbour giving Sydneysiders a chance to rejuvenate and refresh themselves.

Following one of the newest trends in fast energy, Darling Harbour's O2 is the first oxygen bar in Australia with oxygen generators providing 90% pure oxygen to increase stamina, energy and vitality

Offering a direct hit of 90 percent oxygen with a pleasant aromatherapy session, the O2 Bar Oxygen Station has over 15 scents to be breathed for up to 15 minutes at a time for maximum effect. With the bar stations offering a variety of aroma infusers, you don’t have to be at a florist or a garden to experience the freshness of roses, lavenders, eucalyptus or jasmines and coffee lovers can grab an airborne cappuccino, or follow their nose to the fresh scent of vanilla bean, coconut or lime.

Oxygen in our air typically offers just 21 percent, but at a higher concentration oxygen can create feelings of increased energy, refreshment and stress relief. The unique oxygen sessions can also generate greater concentration, increased memory and athletic performance.

Costing $1 per minute, 15 minutes of oxygen inhalation at the O2 is ideal for optimum results while patrons are welcome to access free internet on iPads docked on each oxygen station

Revered for its anti-aging properties, oxygen inhalation at oxygen bars has been a huge success overseas, particularly the United States, Japan and in large cities, providing an escape from pollutants, allergens and impurities found in air.

Aa an effective detoxifier, oxygen can help party goers get back on their feet in no time by flooding the body with calorie free oxygen to overcome a hangover.

Frequent fliers will also appreciate a dose of 90 percent pure to restore their depleted levels of oxygen, the main cause of Jetlag. And stress heads will benefit from taking a deep breath of oxygen to repair the body’s impaired ability to properly take in and utilise oxygen when stressed.

90 percent oxygen requires no sugars, caffeine, shakes or crashing when the effects wear off. Oxygen inhalation being natural and harmless, paves the way to rebalance the body’s oxygen levels for faster recovery and increased vitality but does not intend to treat, cure, prevent or diagnose any illness or disease.

Sydney’s first O2 Bar is open seven days a week from 10am until late. A hit of oxygen costs $1 per minute, with 15 minutes just the right amount of time to feel recharged and renewed.

O2 Bar's eight oxygen stations are all equipped with eight infusers, eight i-pads with free internet and free water for all visitors and are attended by O2 tenders who provide disposable cannulas to each visitor to place around their nose.

Owner of O2, Rob Azar said the bar's popularity and positive response from curious visitors has been overwhelming. "We've only been here for a week and we've already exceeded our profit expectations. We were slammed over the weekend and everyday just keeps getting better and better."

"On the weekdays, the flow has been constant, but come 6 pm and that's definately the peak time for us with professionals coming down to let loose and get charged after a hard day's work."

Talking about future plans, Azar said  "we're really excited about our second oxygen bar due to open next week in Cavill Avenue in Surfer's Paradise. We've set up 12 oxygen stations, so that's an extra four in comparison to the Sydney one. The response has been amazing and the excitement is definitely building up."
