Singapore Airlines orders more A330s

[Thu 30/06/2011 03:09:15]

BY JAMES WILKINSON

Singapore Airlines’ Australian services could be boosted in the coming years, with the airline announcing an agreement has been finalised with Airbus to lease a further 15 A330-300 aircraft.

Singapore Airlines has ordered more A330-300s

The new aircraft will join the airline’s existing fleet of 19 A330-300s when delivered between 2013 and 2015 and will be deployed on routes to Australia, within Asia and to the Middle East.

“The A330s will enable us to add more capacity on regional and medium-range routes and further strengthen Singapore Airlines’ network offering. These new planes will also provide enhanced levels of comfort to our customers and boost operational efficiency,” said Singapore Airlines’ CEO Goh Choon Phong.

“Together with the additional A380s that we are taking delivery of this year, as well as Airbus A350s and Boeing 787s on order for the years ahead, the lease of the A330s is consistent with our longstanding policy of operating a young and modern fleet.”

The new A330s will feature a two-class layout, including the same economy product found on Singapore Airlines’ A380s and new Business Class seats designed for regional and mid-range routes.
