Myer Celebrates 100 years with new venue Mural Hall

[Thu 07/04/2011 02:20:00]

Australia’s largest department store, Myer, celebrated its 100th birthday and the completion of a $300 million redevelopment at Bourke Street Mall in Melbourne last week with a celebration event at the newly opened Myer Mural Hall.

The fully restored, heritage-listed Mural Hall was given a modern makeover for the black-tie cocktail party, which also marked the official opening of the flagship store. Taking on the role of Master of Ceremonies for the night was “Mr Melbourne” Bert Newton, with Guy Sebastian giving the star performance of the evening.

Over 500 guests come together at the newly restored venue, Myer Mural Hall is located on top of the iconic Myer Melbourne city store and is managed by The Big Group.

With a sweeping staircase and leadlight windows the venue takes its name from a variety of impressive original murals portraying opera, fashion, dance and the arts. The venue has also been honoured by the National Trust.

Beam Global Australia was proud to support the iconic brand at the historic event, providing a range of its premium spirits for guests to enjoy, including Russian Standard Vodka and Maker’s Mark.

Russian Standard Vodka brought a classic cocktail with a modern twist into the mix with its Espresso Martini, made with Russian Standard Original and Galliano’s new authentic Italian coffee liqueur, Ristretto, shaken and served with grated dark chocolate.

Guests including Myer Ambassadors Jennifer Hawkins, Jessica Hart, Rebecca Judd, Laura Dundovic, Lauren Phillips and Kris Smith, were treated to a selection of spirits from Beam Global Australia’s portfolio, including Maker’s Mark, The Macallan, Laphroaig and Courvoisier VSOP, served over hand-chipped ice.

Rhonda Burchmore, Patti Newton, Collette Mann, Denise Drysdale and Val Jellay provided plenty more entertainment along with dancers, showgirls, a big band and “the new Phantom”, Ben Lewis, from Melbourne’s newest musical “Love Never Dies”.
