Hawaiian goes daily on Sydney-Honolulu flights

[Tue 05/04/2011 01:53:53]

In a move certain to be popular with the groups market, Hawaiian Airlines will tomorrow (Apr 6) increase services from four flights per week to a daily operation between Sydney and Honolulu for the peak travel period until August 1, 2011.

Hawaiian Airlines launches daily Sydney-Honolulu
flights from April 6

The seasonal increase is the first time Hawaiian Airlines has operated daily from Australia and from August 2, Hawaiian will revert to five flights per week from Sydney, taking to 19,000 the number of extra seats it will offer on the route this year.

Sherilyn Robinson, General Manager, Sales and Marketing for Hawaiian Airlines in Australia, said all flights are operated with two class Boeing 767-300ER aircraft, seating 264 passengers.

“Ever since we launched nonstop flights from Sydney to Honolulu in May 2004, tourist travel from Australia to Hawaii has continued to grow,” she said.

“Now with our increased flights from Sydney, we will have the ability to carry substantially more passengers during the peak travel season.”
.
As well as flying to Honolulu, Hawaiian offers onward service to the neighbouring islands of Maui, Kauai and The Big Island of Hawaii, and connections to 10 US mainland cities – Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Seattle, Portland, Sacramento, San Jose, Oakland, San Diego and Phoenix.

“Hawaii is an exciting destination in its own right and is just an overnight flight from Australia,” Robinson said.

Hawaiian Airlines flight HA 452 departs Sydney at 9.20pm, crossing the international dateline and arriving in Honolulu at 11.00am the same day. The return service, HA 451, leaves Honolulu at 12.40pm, arriving in Sydney at 7.20pm the following day.

Included for all passengers on Hawaiian’s flights from Australia are meals, drinks and refreshments and mainscreen entertainment. Hawaiian also provides for all of its passengers from Australia one of the most generous checked luggage allowances in the airline industry, with each passenger allowed two free checked bags, each weighing up to 32 kilograms.
