The Mounted Police Training Academy, for the first time outside the USA trained participants at Sydney's Royal Randwick.
The Australian Turf Club (ATC) has established an alliance with an American organisation that specialises in mounted police training. The accredited Mounted Police Training Academy (MPTA) in partnership with the Southern Police Institute at the University of Louisville conducted an extensive Mounted Police Training course at Royal Randwick.
The Academy for the first time outside USA trained up to 8 participants including ATC security personnel and members of the NSW Mounted Police, involving horsemanship, crowd management training, arrest techniques, mounted tactical formation training and equine psychology. At the ceremony presentation proudly supported by the American Australian Association Limited, Katie Megna, director of corporate programmes awarded graduates for their talent and display of working with former thoroughbred racing horses and applauded ATC for the Trans-Pacific relationship.
"The ATC is the first organisation in the Southern Hemisphere to implement mounted security. By engaging the MPTA, the ATC is investing in the future and building internal capability to deliver this specialist training for the events and racing industry" said Shane Brady, Head of Security & Risk at the Australian Turf Cluc.
