Shangri-La Sydney unveils guestroom refurbishment

Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney is commencing a $20 million refurbishment of the hotel’s guestrooms from May until September 2011. The upgrade will include the refurbishment of 442 guestrooms located on levels 4 to 29.
The upgrade will comence in May 2011 and include 442 guest rooms.
The new look rooms will provide guests a heightened level of luxury, comfort and sophistication with a key feature of the rooms being the purpose-built window seating providing an unrivalled position to take in the panoramic views. Additional enhancements to the rooms will include iHome docks, media hubs and custom designed furniture to enhance the rooms’ comfort and feel.
Throughout 2010, all hotel guestrooms and suites received upgrades to technological equipment including wide-screen LCD televisions, Foxtel satellite channels and complimentary broadband and Wi-Fi Internet access.
“We are looking forward to proceeding with the guestroom upgrade, which will further strengthen Shangri-La’s position as the city’s leading five-star deluxe hotel and provide a new benchmark for luxury accommodation in Sydney,” said Franz Donhauser, Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney’s general manager, commenting on the hotel’s refurbishment plans.
Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney completed renovations on the hotel’s 111 Horizon Club suites and guestrooms in 2006, providing an exclusive retreat where frequent business travellers can experience a higher standard of accommodation and a host of special privileges and amenities. Located on levels 30 to 35, the suites and guestrooms are the largest in their class in the city.
