Conference delegates build more than 130 bikes for The Smith Family at MCEC
[Thu 03/02/2011 09:36:15]
More than 130 children from The Smith Family were pleasantly surprised on Monday (Jan 31) when delegates from PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) revealed newly assembled bikes for the ’tykes’ at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC).
The Tykes on Bikes corporate team building exercise, facilitated by Motivation Worldwide, brought together more than 650 PwC delegates who worked in teams to build bikes from scratch, under the impression they would race them following completion.
Unbeknownst to delegates the completed bikes would actually be presented to the children, who knew they were receiving bikes, but not the fact these bikes were built especially for them.
As a token of The Smith Family’s appreciation, children signed flags and presented these to MCEC's chief executive, Leigh Harry and PwC.
“The MCEC are proud to have supported this activity as part of the PwC Consulting Academy and it has been gratifying to see the smiles on children’s faces as they received their new bikes today,” Harry said.
MCEC provided sponsorship support to cover the hire and costs associated with running the Tykes on Bikes event in the exhibition bays and surrounding spaces.
