Hawaiian goes daily on Sydney route

[Tue 30/11/2010 11:33:17]

BY JAMES WILKINSON

Hawaiian Airlines is set to increase flights on the Sydney-Honolulu route to a daily service from April to August 2011 on the back of heavy demand.

Hawaiian Airlines is launching daily Sydney flights

The move almost doubles Hawaiian’s capacity on the route – the airline currently flies to Sydney four times per week – and is backed by a strong Australian dollar and increased demand following Channel 7’s broadcast of ‘Sunrise’ from Honolulu last week.

Hawaiian’s vice president of revenue management and schedule planning, Avi Mannis, said the move was to capitalise on demand from both the MICE and leisure markets primarily ex-Australia.

“We know how much Australian travellers enjoy Hawaii, so we are increasing our flight schedule during their favourite time of year to travel,” he said. “The timing couldn’t be better as Hawaii is great value for Australians.”

Hawaiian’s daily flights will operate daily flights from April 6, 2011 to August 1, 2011, before dropping back to five services per week.

The flights will be operated by two-class Boeing 767-300ER aircraft that offer 18 business and 246 economy class seats.

A Ford Focus from Alamo Rent A Car

Meanwhile, in related news, Alamo Rent A Car is currently offering an early bird booking incentive, which gives customers a complimentary upgrade on a range of categories for all rentals booked before March 31, 2011 and for travel between April 1, 2011 and March 31, 2012.

The special – which has fully inclusive rates starting at USD$72 per day for a compact upgradable to an intermediate vehicle – is available for all rental collections at any of Alamo’s eight Hawaiian locations (Honolulu, Waikiki, Hilo, Kona, Kahului and West Maui).
