High Aussie Dollar means top deals on US car rentals

As the Australian dollar continues ride the all-time-high wave, costs continue to drop on trips to the Unites States, including hotels, restaurants and importantly, rental cars – one area that was previously quite expensive.

In a boost to corporate, incentive and leisure travellers, a number of car rental companies are offering significant discounts on the back of the high dollar, including Alamo Rent A Car.
Kylee Kay, Managing Director of Momento Travel Services, which represents Alamo Rent A Car in Australia, said people visiting California in the coming months can rent a four door, full sized car from US$59 if the car hire is confirmed anytime for travel before December 15, 2010.
Kay said whether travellers are arriving in Los Angeles or San Francisco, Alamo’s convenient airport depots and downtown locations in San Francisco, Long Beach, Orange County Airport and Anaheim allow drivers to hit the road within minimal time.
She said there are also key depots in Phoenix and Las Vegas for travellers who prefer to start their road trips some distance from the major Californian metropolises and one-way car hire to any Alamo location within the tri-state region of California, Arizona and Nevada is likewise complimentary.
Alamo has more than 280 rental locations throughout the USA including Hawaii, and travellers can choose from a variety of cars in every category – compact, midsized, full-sized, premium and luxury – while there are also convertibles, SUVs and hybrid cars for those after a different driving experience.
