Melbourne International Film Festival shines at the Regent Theatre

[Tue 10/08/2010 07:46:45]

The 2010 Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) Opening Night returned to the opulent Regent Theatre this year for a night of red carpet glamour and Australian film.

In Richard Moore’s last year as director of the festival before he goes to work for BIFF (Brisbane’s equivalent), he made sure it was going to be a good one and of ‘Cannes Calibre’. He expressed his delight that the Opening Night could once again be at Melbourne’s Regent Theatre. The theatre undoubtedly suited the occasion, given MIFF's standing as Australia's most important film festival.

The film chosen was the world premiere of a new Australian film by debut director, Amanda Jane, THE WEDDING PARTY, a Melbourne-based romantic comedy about family, love and choices we make in life. In attendance were the cast, Director and Producer of the movie, with many other familiar faces in the crowd, the night was attended by the who’s who of Australian Film as well International celebrities.

The magnificent Plaza Ballroom at the Regent Theatre was the perfect host for the glamourous After Party. Guests enjoyed delectable canapés, plentiful beverages, and a great atmosphere, all within a spectacular setting.
