Staging Rentals celebrates 20 years by partying with Jimmy Barnes

Last Thursday (July 29) Staging Rentals & Construction Services celebrated 20 years in business at their Alexandria, NSW headquarters with 250 clients, colleagues and industry friends and entertainment by Australian rock legend Jimmy Barnes.

From what started with a few staging pieces a couple of drapes, a Mitsubishi Sigma and a gap in the burgeoning event market in Sydney has grown into a one of the most recognised and respected suppliers in the event industry.
Through three recessions, one Olympics, three premises, branches in Melbourne and Brisbane, hundreds of staff and thousands of events and gigs, Staging Rentals & Construction Services stands strong.

Meri Took, founder and director shared the journey with the guests in a heart-felt speech. He thanked his wife, staff, clients and friends for being part of the extraordinary story.
‘For years, every cent we earned was reinvested in fabric, sewing machines, plywood and the like – we ploughed everything back into the business. We found a very cheap and leaky space in Leichhardt and begged for and borrowed delivery trucks as the jobs got bigger,’ said Took.
He referred to the new management team, headed up by David Comer, as a cornerstone of the company’s continued success.
Cormer noted the variety and scope of the work as the reasons why he loved working in the event industry.
‘Where else do you get to drop motor cars out of the roof of convention centres, set up catwalks for the world’s most beautiful women and generally get to play with all sorts of fun equipment?’ asked Comer.
He spoke of the partnerships the company has forged with their associates and clients over the years and the aim of the company.
‘We want to continue to produce new and innovative staging products and strive to constantly improve our service delivery’, said Comer.
