SCEC scores a goal with World Cup coverage

[Thu 17/06/2010 11:53:24]

The Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre is kicking goals with Sydney sports fans, with the venue helping to deliver high quality 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa games vision live to thousands of spectators at Darling Harbour this week.

The Centre’s boutique production unit, Centre Video Production, is providing live links from SBS TV to the Sydney International FIFA Fan Fest™ live site in Darling Harbour, using its high quality Digital Video Network (DVN).

Crowds piled into Sydney's Darling Harbour for the FIFA Fan Fest

The DVN will also be used by SBS to broadcast live from Darling Harbour during the massive event, capturing the excitement of tens of thousands of spectators over the month-long World Cup (June 11 – July 12).

The Centre is the only convention centre in Australia, and one of only a handful of non-media companies in Australia, to offer DVN services. Installed last year, the DVN service enables television networks to broadcast digitally from the Centre during major events and for the Centre to receive or transmit high quality live broadcasts from any room in the venue.

Since its introduction last year, the DVN service has been in strong demand with Centre clients as well as external companies keen to make the use of the latest technology to deliver material, such as advertisements and presentations, in a high quality format.

Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre Chief Executive Ton van Amerongen said he was thrilled that the Centre’s high-tech services were being used to deliver such a high profile event.

“This is world class technology being used to ensure Sydneysiders can enjoy world class soccer – it’s a great match.”

Centre Video Production offers a range of audio visual services including three high definition editing suites.
