Ivy commissions Edward & Co for seashell cocktails

Merivale has commissioned Edward & Co - led by international designer Edward Coutts Davidson - to create a series of marine-inspired cocktail accessories for the ivy Pool Club.
Following on from the latest trend in drink sharing vessels in Europe where other designs by Edward have been served to the likes of George Clooney, Robert De Niro, Prince Harry and Naomi Campbell, Merivale’s head mixologist, Mikey Enright, has been working exclusively with the designer to create six new cocktail accessories that will be a first for Australia.
The six stunning designs include a silver starfish that holds six individual drinks, as well as pearlescent free-form conch shells and clam shells. Some cocktail shells will be known as “share shells”, allowing friends to sip drinks from the shell using long straws. The clam shell, already christened 'Clamourous' by Edward & Co, will be a single-serve cocktail.
“ivy is one of the most unique design-lead establishments that could happily grace any city. The Pool Club inspired me to think of St Tropez in the 1950’s and come up with the “Clamourous” and other shell concepts,” said the designer.
Mikey is now at work creating the ivy seashell cocktails, which will use only the finest spirits such as Belvedere pure, Belvedere flavours, Hennessey VS and Ten Cane rum, as well as Veuve Cliquot NV.
The cocktails – in their unique melamine shells - will be served up in spring when ivy’s rooftop pool reopens for business in September.
Edward Coutts Davidson is an interior and event designer to the stars. He organised Madonna’s 49th birthday party, helped decorate her London homes and worked on sets for her Sticky & Sweet tour. He’s also created parties for the Foo Fighters and Kings of Leon, events for the royal families of Bahrain and Kuwait, champagne trolleys for Dom Perignon and a collection for Wedgwood.
