Truck Show Wheels Into The BCEC

[Mon 01/02/2010 07:39:34]

Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) is the new home of the Queensland Truck and Machinery Show, one of Queensland’s oldest and most successful events.

The premier industry event of the Commercial Vehicle Industry Association of Queensland (CVIAQ), the Queensland Truck and Machinery Show draws crowds of over 35,000 and will hold its first event at the Centre in 2011 with future shows confirmed for 2013 and 2015.

“We are very pleased to partner with the CVIAQ in this new and exciting era of the show’s history and we will work together to deliver an outstanding world class event for the industry,” general manager of the BCEC, Bob O’Keeffe.

Organisers of the Queensland Truck and Machinery Show join the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre bringing the expo to the newly expanded facilities.

Organisers anticipate that the Centre’s central city location, ease of access to the venue and direct and easy access to all forms of public transport, together with the added attractions of the South Bank Precinct, will further increase the show’s popularity with exhibitors and visitors.

The first show at the Centre will take place in 2011 (May 5th - 8th) in what will be a stellar year for the Centre with the scheduled opening in June of the Centre’s $130 million expansion of its convention facilities.

The Queensland Truck and Machinery Show is a major event on the Queensland calendar generating product sales of approximately $388 million and injecting more than $58.23 million into the Queensland economy over a three day period.

CVIAQ CEO Brett Wright said the timing was right for the move to the Convention Centre which offers total ‘all weather’ protection, professional convention and meeting room facilities and all within easy access to the best hotels and restaurants in Brisbane’s CBD and South Bank Precinct. “We have listened to the feedback from our leading manufacturers and responded appropriately, but we remain committed to the legendary atmosphere and characteristics of the show but at a superior venue.”
