Australian Event Awards Open 2010 Entries and Tender For A Home

[Thu 10/12/2009 11:06:33]

From Bondi to Broome and Brisbane to Birdsville, events professionals large and small can start preparing for the 2010 Australian Event Awards, with organisers today opening entries and launching a nationwide search for a ‘home’ for the event.

The Australian Event Awards is the national program to reward excellence and innovation across the entire Australian Events Industry and is the only opportunity for Australian events, event managers, products and service providers to be nationally recognised for their achievements regardless of event type, size, geographic location or association membership.

Bring these darlings to your place, register now to host the 2010 Australian Event Awards or submit your entry to win a trophy of your own.

“With the winners of the 2009 Awards just recently announced in October and now enjoying their well deserved accolades, it is time to turn our attention to this year’s high achievers as we begin the search for the next wave of innovative and outstanding Australian event producers and suppliers,” said the Awards executive producer Jeremy Miller.

“We’ve opened entries months ahead of the Gala Presentation on 7 October 2010, allowing prospective entrants an opportunity to review the criteria and questions in plenty of time and to complete the simple entry process at a time that best suits them.”

With entries now open, the Australian Event Awards have also announced their nationwide search for a new home, offering venues, hotel chains and destinations the opportunity host the Event Industry’s annual ‘Night of Nights’ for the next three years.

“While Australia has long enjoyed a global reputation in delivering outstanding business, cultural and sporting events, one very special venue or destination will have the opportunity to shine in the Event Industry spotlight by partnering with the Australian Event Awards,” said Miller.

“With great exposure to our national event industry’s leaders, suppliers and participants, this partnership will position a venue, hotel chain or destination as the home of events in Australia."

The Australian Event Awards are judged by a panel of highly skilled industry experts co-chaired by Johnny Allen, Foundation Director of the Australian Centre for Event Management, and Sandy Hollway, formerly CEO of the Sydney Organising Committee for the 2000 Olympic Games.

“In 2009 the judges were thrilled to see so many different types of events strongly represented from the Australian Open and the Biennale of Sydney, to the Fun4Kids Festival in Warrnambool and Carols by Candlelight SA. We hope this encourages regional and small-scale events to get involved and enter, and prove they can be just as innovative and effective as Australia’s high profile conferences and public events,” said Johnny Allen.

Following significant industry feedback, the 2010 Australian Event Awards will also recognise four new categories, Best New Event, Best Private Event, Best Achievement in Entertainment and Most Innovative Use of Technology.

“With entries open from today, now is the time to start planning your entry, thinking about your achievements since July 1 and what other events are on your agenda for the months ahead. While entries are open until 26 July 2010, from today you can review the specific award criteria the judges have posted online and start looking for new opportunities to be nationally recognised for your hard work,” said Jeremy Miller.

The 2010 Australian Event Awards is the national awards program to reward innovation, recognise excellence and unite the entire Australian Events Industry. Entries are open to any event staged between 1 July 2009 and 30 June 2010.
