China Southern's Melbourne Flights Go Overnight

[Tue 27/10/2009 03:22:16]

China Southern Airlines will re-time its nonstop Melbourne-Guangzhou flights to depart late evening, enabling passengers to connect with onward services throughout China after an early arrival the following morning.

China Southern will re-time Melbourne flights

Under the changed schedules, initially in place from January 11 until March 27, 2010, China Southern flight CZ 322 will depart Melbourne at 11.30pm every Monday, Thursday and Saturday, arriving in Guangzhou at 6.00am the next day.

The early arrival will enable passengers to continue with China Southern to some 160 destinations throughout China, or beyond to other destinations throughout Asia, as well as the Middle East and Europe.

The retimed flights from Melbourne will enable passengers from regional Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania, Canberra and New Zealand to make same day connections to China and convenient onward flights the next day. The changes also offer new opportunities for freight customers.

“China continues to grow as both a trading partner and a tourist destination for Australians and New Zealanders,” said China Southern Airlines general manager - Australia, James Liu.

“These new schedules will make our flights from Melbourne more accessible for travellers from regional areas or from interstate or New Zealand,” said Liu.

“Because Melbourne Airport does not have a flight curfew, passengers have all day to connect with our late night departure.

“Travellers can also sleep on the nine hour overnight flight, then make an early start to the day after arriving in Guangzhou at 6.00am,” he said.

The flight from Guangzhou to Melbourne has also been rescheduled, departing at 11.50 pm every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday and arriving at 12.30pm the following day. Again, the new overnight flight enables passengers from throughout China to connect with the overnight service to Melbourne.

China Southern Airlines operates Airbus A330-200 twinjets between Melbourne and Guangzhou. The aircraft seat 264 passengers – 24 in Business Class and 240 in Economy Class.
