Capes, Canapes and Capers At RSPCA Superheros Ball

[Thu 15/10/2009 02:26:52]

Two event industry 'superheros', Decorative Events and Bedouin Tents are assisting the annual RSPCA Superheros gala event this year turning their focus to the charity’s very own Superheroes, the 32 RSPCA Inspectors in NSW who face cruelty and defend animals every day and tickets are on sale now.

The RSPCA Superheros Ball tickets are on sale now, come
dressed in black tie, as your favourite superhero, or just
wear your undies on the outside!

As a non-government charity, events like the Superheros gala ball nights like this one are vastly important to fundraise, hence keeping Inspectors on the road. This year’s ball is in honour of the Inspectors will see profits go toward the purchase of an Emergency Response Vehicle to assist Inspectors to respond to natural disasters and animal rescues – like the dramatic cave rescue of Scooby (pictured) a deaf King Charles Cavalier that made headlines when he was rescued by the RSPCA after he chased a rabbit into a hole beneath 100 tonnes of rock at his family's Hunter Valley property in September.

Event Industry providers Decorative Events as well as Bedouin Tents have come on board to lend services to the cause which promises to be an evening of intereactive, superhero themed games, a Ninetendo Wii battle ground, Super Sumo wrestling, silent auctions and the chance to win a Toyota Yaris.

Tickets are available at $150 each including drinks, food and all entertainment and the event will be held at Sydney's Byron Kennedy Hall, Entertainment Quarter.

The RSPCA team says that despite the fun, there is a serious cause behind this event as $60,000 is needed to purchase an Emergency Response Vehicle for inspectors. The organisation says that the ‘Scooby rescue’ required the inspectors to work for 5 days, call in favours from the fire brigade, mine safety experts and commercial drillers to assist. In that same week, other inspectors attended nine other rescues, they said, adding that a response vehicle would have made the operations much easier.
