New York For Under A Grand

[Tue 04/08/2009 04:27:41]

By James Wilkinson

Incentive planners looking for a trip with a difference can now put New York into the picture, following United Airlines’ latest release of sale fares to the Big Apple from Melbourne or Sydney from just $931 including tax.

United Airlines is offering New York from $931

The move – which effectively means a New York side trip from Los Angeles for free – will again prompt rival carriers Delta, Qantas and V Australia to follow-suit, starting a new chapter in the trans-Pacific fare war.

Coupled with the Australian dollar hovering above US84c, United’s ticket price from Melbourne or Sydney to Los Angeles or New York from $595 return (plus taxes of $324 and $335 respectively) brings the Big Apple into serious incentive trip consideration.

United Airlines general manager - Australia and New Zealand, Alison Espley, said the latest fare release was part of the carrier’s strategy to stay competitive in a challenging environment.

“At United Airlines we continually endeavour to provide our customers with extremely competitive fares,” she said. “This latest offer is testament to our ongoing commitment to the trans-Pacific route.”

United Airlines also currently has San Francisco on sale for $695 plus tax and ticketing is valid until August 10, 2009 for departures up until November 30, 2009.
