Darling Harbour will celebrate its 21st birthday next week in a grand celebration that will include music, dance, entertainment, food and fireworks overrun the inner-city precinct of Sydney.
Held on May 3 and presented by the
Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority, Celebrate! is a FREE event that will bring together 200 of Australia’s best multicultural performers, dancers, musicians and more.
The celebrations are expected reach their peak with a carnivale parade and concert featuring
Wes Car, TaikOz and fireworks on Cockle Bay from 6:00pm onwards.
Entertainment at the multicultural event will encompass everything from Indigenous performers, contemporary Indian music and Korean dancers to Polish folkloric groups, Carribean reggae bands, Spanish flamenco and west African dancers.
Children’s entertainment will begin from midday with clowns, craft and hat-making workshops hosted by
Circus Solarus.
Drumming group TaikOz will combine
Japanese taiko and the sound of bamboo shakuhachi, or Japanese flute, with a synchronised fireworks spectacular to create a dramatic, explosive finale.
