Tasmanian and Malaysian Bureaux Form Strategic Partnership

[Thu 12/03/2009 10:58:04]

By Ian Neubauer

The Tasmanian Convention Bureau has formed an international strategic marketing alliance with the Sarawak Convention Bureau.

The bureaux signed a memorandum of understanding this week under which lead-generation activities, information sharing, sales and training support will be undertaken for the mutual benefit of both destinations.

The after party was a lot rowdier

Tasmanian Convention Bureau CEO, Denise Bradley, said Sarawak and Tasmania share many drawcards and challenges in attracting business tourism.

“If an organisation or association travels to Sarawak for a business event, it is fair to say that they would be attracted to Tasmania as a destination and visa versa,” he said.

Added Sarawak Convention Bureau CEO, Jill Henry: “As international meetings are unlikely to return to the same destination for at least ten years, those organisations that have already met in Tasmania or Sarawak are great potential business leads as the host organisations have already demonstrated their willingness to meet beyond Gateway cities.”

“Importantly, In addition to the sharing of business leads, staff from each bureau will provide logistical support when operating within their respective countries,” she said. “Staff exchanges will also be undertaken to provide on the job training and help improve cultural awareness,” she said.
