Celebrating A Product That Sucks

Sydney socialites and industry members turned up to what was quite possibly the quirkiest and cleanest party in town when Hoover celebrated 100 iconic years.
Guests sipped Hoover cocktails at the Foundation Hall of the Museum of Contemporary Art, while event host Bianca Dye was joined by international vacuum cleaner expert, Charles Richard Lester, who flew in from LA especially for the event.
One-off celebrity designed Hoovers were on display, gorgeously created by the likes of Charlie Brown, Kirk Pengilly, Layne Beachley, Carla Zampatti and Ian Kiernan. Other notable designers included Sydney artist Rozee Cutrone and Lincoln Hall — the Mount Everest climber thought to have died climbing in 2006.

Also on display at the event were Hoovers from throughout the ages, as well as the Italian designed 2009 models not previously seen anywhere in the world.
The Hoover exhibition was then opened to the public for the following two days (Friday 31 October and Saturday 1 November.)
